Drowning Statistics: There are over 7,000 drowning deaths nationally each year. Drowning accidents are the leading cause of death and injury of children under 5 years of age. The POOL PROTECTOR pool alarm (not to be confused with the brand PoolGuard™) is an electronic monitoring system that automatically sounds an alarm when children or pets fall into your unsupervised pool. It’s portable, self-contained and lightweight. The unit is simple to operate. Entry into the pool will be detected by the Pool Alarm’s electronic sensor, triggering a loud pulsating alarm at the unit and inside your house from the remote receiver. The Pool Protector installation is very easy. It sits on the pool deck as shown in the picture. After you install the Pool Protector, it can’t be deactivated; it is always in the alarm ready mode until you put it in Sleep Mode. If someone who does not know how to put the Pool Protector in sleep mode attempts to remove the alarm, it will sound an alarm. The Pool Protector comes with a remote receiver which can be mounted in your home up to 200 feet from the main unit. It comes with a 12 volt power supply. The Pool Protector uses two 9 volt batteries (not included) which should last approximately one year. There is an audible low battery indicator which will sound at the poolside alarm and the remote receiver. However, did you know that June is NATIONAL PET PREPAREDNESS MONTH? Well, it is. I have written a rather nice (in my humble opinion) Prep Your Pet Guide. When prepping for your pets, it's not just about hurricanes, but also any kind of emergency that could cause an evacuation. And it's about a whole more than just having some extra food and water. The Guide, which is 7 pages long (see told you it's more than just food and water and hurricanes) and you can download a copy for FREE. Just go to my website:www.kisssurvivalservices.com and click on "Contact Us", then under where it says email, click on the one that says "For all other questions". Just put PYP in the subject line and a quick message like, "Prep Your Pet Please", and I'll email you a copy of the guide. It's that easy.
ESSENTIAL OILS One of the things that we “preppers” and “survivalists” talk a lot about is WTSHTF…which means: When The Sh*t Hits The Fan. Or in other words when a huge disaster hits and we find ourselves having to live a much more primitive lifestyle. When this happens one of the things that we will not have readily available may be medicine…prescription and OTC. Therefore, we will need to rely on more natural means of healing. One of the natural methods that I love, now or in a disaster, is essential oils. I will be posting from time to time on different uses for specific oils along with some general information. My choice brand of essential oils, because in my estimation they are the purest is: “doTERRA”. If you want to learn more about essential oils, please feel free to go my niece’s website and check out the vast amount of information there. Her website is: www.mydoterra.com/essentiallykimberly. In the meantime here is some general information about essential oils and doTERRA. Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. If you have ever enjoyed the gift of a rose, a walk by a field of lavender, or the smell of fresh cut mint, you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease and play a role in plant pollination. Essential oils are non water-based phytochemicals made up of volatile organic compounds. Although they are fat soluble, they do not include fatty lipids or acids found in vegetable and animal oils. Essential oils are very clean, almost crisp, to the touch and are immediately absorbed by the skin. Pure, unadulterated essential oils are translucent and range in color from crystal clear to deep blue. In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people, essential oils have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Modern scientific study and trends towards more holistic approaches to wellness are driving a revival and new discovery of essential oil health applications. dōTERRA (CPTG) Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils represent the safest, purest, and most beneficial essential oils available today. They are gently and skillfully distilled from plants that have been patiently harvested at the perfect moment by experienced growers from around the world for ideal extract composition and efficacy. Experienced essential oil users will immediately recognize dōTERRA's superior quality standard for naturally safe, purely effective therapeutic-grade essential oils K.I.S.S. Have a Happy Memorial Day...Remember all those that have given their lives in service to our country...And Stay Safe!
It is no secret that the greatest weapon is the mind. If the mind can't engage when it comes to combat of any kind, then the most powerful physical weapon may not only be ineffective, it may actually work against you. In my workshops I've always taught what I call Mind Rehearsal, and I like that term because it really describes what we do. We think about a variety of situations of where and how we can be attacked and we visualize how to react...then we rehearse it in our minds over and over. But lately I was talking to a Prepper friend of mine who was formerly in the military and a former law enforcement officer and also my co-speaker in a couple of seminars that we did. He knows his stuff. He was talking about the mental part of self defense and called it Mental Gymnastics...now he may have come up with that term since his very lovely wife is a former gymnast...but I loved the term and thought it very original...so I "borrowed" it. :) Think of how perfect it is...gymnastics "involves exercises intended to display strength, balance & agility"...so isn't that what we want when we are training our minds to react/battle/fight an attacker? We want our minds to be strong and balanced so that we have the physical agility to kick the scum bag's a_s!! So today, start your mental gymnastics....as you are laying in bed at night and can't sleep or when you are having to wait somewhere (like the doctor's office or the DMV or wherever) or specifically set aside some time... and picture where you might be and how an attacker might come up to you and then really visualize how you are going to react. Make the scene very real in your mind...where did he come from? how did he grab you? how big is the guy? does he have a weapon? is he high on drugs? is there more than one attacker? and so on...because if/when an attack does happen you will only have seconds (if even that) to make those assessments and react. You won't ever see Mental Gymnastics in the Olympics (although I'm sure it is practiced by all great athletes) and so you won't win a gold medal but you may very well save your life or that of a loved one. In self protection, the one most important thing I teach is to survive...and that means getting away from your attacker as fast and as far as possible. It is good to have all the right weapons and all the right moves but what if your weapon and/or "move" only briefly diabled or distracted your attacker? You'd better be able to run fast. That's why it's important that we stay in shape. I don't mean that you have to start running marathons or spend 5 days a week at the gym, but I do mean that in order to survive we need to be able to move and move fast! What good will it do us if we make that initial escape only to get caught a few minutes later because we have run out of breath? Oh sure, we all believe that in that scenario our adrenaline will take over and we'll be able to do anything...and it most likely will kick in a bit, but we still need to be able to have our body trained just as well as our minds. So today I encourage you to assess your physical condition and abilities as you consider a situation where you may have to actually be running for your life. AND, I have to practice what I preach because one of the reasons I'm writing this is that I realize that I may be one of those that may not make it more than a block (hate to admit that) and in my mind have been depending on the weapons I carry and my self defense moves. So today, I have made a vow to get in better shape. I am actually going to use that gym membership that I purchased back in February and haven't used (hey, don't judge...it's been a hectic and rough couple of months lately). I may only go once or twice a week but in addition I'm going to walk my dogs more and I am going to ride my bike that I "inherited" recently from my stepfather. He loved this bike and rode it about 2 miles each day. He rode it to the bank, the drug store, the grocey store and to his favorite lunch hangout. Again, don't judge...it's got 3 not 2 wheels and I'm not going to be racing on it, but I will be getting some much needed exercise. Hey I can even put my dogs in the basket and take them with me. CHILD ON A LEASH? HOW ABOUT A CHILD GUARD INSTEAD? It seems that I keep reading such controversy about the "leashes" or harnesses with a "leash" attach that some parents use in an effort to keep their child from wandering away and getting lost at a mall, airport etc. Here is a link to one I saw today: http://mom.me/parenting/6389-kids-leashes/item/36995-7/ with some great pics. Well what if you had another choice? What about our Panda Child Guard? Worn by the child, the cartoon animal-shaped transmitter sends a constant signal to the receiver, which is held by the adult. The signal is adjustable - from a distance of 3 to 21 feet, so when the child goes beyond the set distance, the adult’s receiver starts to beep, letting them know that the child is starting to wander off. The Child Guard is worn on the child’s wrist. You can check it out in more detail on my website at: www.kisssurvivalservices.com OK. Now that I’ve got your attention...I’m going to give you some reasons to keep beer in glass bottles in your home. The first two reasons are:
